Jamaica: supporting the implementation of the medium term action plan for management for results
Abstract
This paper briefly describes the program that supports the implementation of the Government of Jamaica's Medium Term Action Plan (MTAP) for Management for Results. The program seeks to strengthen results-based management in Jamaica by supporting the implementation of critical activities of the Government's MTAP. These refer to the enhancement of the accountability framework for performance based institutions (PBIs), improving the linkage between planning and budgeting, modernizing the Government management information systems, and supporting the Government's capacity for monitoring, reporting and evaluation. Through the implementation of the MTAP, GOJ authorities expect that government interventions and activities will be better-prioritized, more focused on the objectives of modernization, better communicated and subject to regular fundamental reviews. The program is still under implementation, and in general most of the activities have been performed according to the agreed scheduled. Some of the core reform proposals that were prepared and financed by the program are currently under consideration of the political authorities of the country .Lessons learned are mostly associated to the design and implementation of the program
